Women's Representation in Media

Have you ever wondered how women are treated in the media compared to men? It disgusts me that there are people out there who will not tune in to a news story or podcast just because they are women. They think they are not so knowledgeable on topics that men should be experts at discussing and analyzing. For example, some people bash and harass female news anchors or pundits on a football newscast. We are all human and bleed the same blood so I do not see why viewers can get so heated and triggered about a woman voicing an opinion or even stating legitimate facts or statistics. It just boggles my mind.

The only genuine instance I can imagine with angry viewers bashing a female reporter is when she misinforms the audience. See now this makes sense because this is an acceptable thing that happens quite often with several news anchors but they correct themselves on media platforms and make sure that they caught themselves. To move forward as a society, we cannot afford to become sexist-like viewers in 2020. It feels as if we are backtracking to a time in the early 1900s in which particular men just objectify women as a product than a human being. Ironically, sex sells in the media market when advertising products and services.

Even with the film industry women are portrayed as a sexual attribute. Since sex sells in the media market, most films utilize women in scenes where they have to undress and partake in sexual scenes that attract viewers to tune in and catch their hormonal interests.
